FERN EVES
Fern (Wycoff) Eves, 97, of Moville, Iowa, formerly of Le Mars passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.Funeral services were held at First United Methodist Church in Merrill, Iowa, with burial at Hillside Cemetery, rural Merrill.
Fern Manz was born on October 7, 1905, on a farm west of Merrill, Iowa, the daughter of George and Edith (Hauser) Manz. She graduated from high school in Sioux City (Castle on the Hill) and attended Morningside College in Sioux City. Fern later attended Teacher’s Summer School to receive her teaching certificate.
Fern and Oscar Wycoff were married in Nebraska in 1924. They were blessed with four children. She taught school in the Hinton area for many years. In 1945 Fern married Charles Eves at Bruce, South Dakota. They retired to Florida for 8 years prior to moving to Le Mars in 1976. Mr. Eves passed away in 1988.
For the past ten years Fern has resided with her daughter, Dolores, in rural Sioux City and her son, Marvin, in Moville. Fern was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Merrill and had been active with the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed fishing.
Fern will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Dolores Hageman of South Sioux City, Nebraska; three sons Marvin Wycoff and his wife Mildred of Moville; Ramon Wycoff and his wife Marilyn of Manchester, Iowa; and Maurice Wycoff and his wife Darlene of Overland Park, Kansas; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded her in death by her parents; husbands Oscar and Charles; a sister Eva Peters; and a son-in-law Everett Hageman.
