VIRGIL DORWEILER
Virgil Dorweiler, 69, of Carroll, Iowa, died Monday, January 10, 2000, at St. Anthony Regional hospital in Carroll, from injuries suffered in a car-pedestrian accident in Carroll. Mr. Dorweiler was born at Guttenberg, Iowa, and later served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. From 1965 to 1976 he was associate professor of English at Westmar College in Le Mars. He also wrote a column “The Voice of the Turtle” for the Le Mars Daily Sentinel for a number of years. In the 1970s and 1980s Mr. Dorweiler was the publisher of a four-newspaper chain; The Kingsley New-Times, Anthon Herald, Danbury Review and Correctionville News. He retired in 1990 and lived for the past several years in Carroll. Survivors include his wife Linda of Carroll; a son Matthew of Sioux Falls, S. D.; a daughter Valerie Johnson of Sioux City; one grandchild; two brothers John Dorweiler of Dubuque; Vernon Dorweiler of Houghton, Michigan; a sister Iolene Hess of Guttenberg.
