ALLYN HOLTZ
Allyn “Joe” Holtz, 66, of 3715 Jones St., Sioux City died unexpectedly Wednesday, September 25, 1996, at a Sioux City Hospital. Services were held on Friday, September 27, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A military graveside service was held at Hillside Cemetery in Merrill, Iowa, with the American Legion Olson-Halweg Post #125 providing military honors. Mr. Holtz was born March 14, 1930, in Inwood, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Faith (Norton) Holtz. He married Darlene Christensen on January 14, 1956, in Sioux City. He lived in the Hinton and Merrill area for 40 years. He lived in Sioux City for the past four years and had most recently been a security guard at Soo Tools with the Wells Fargo Company. Mr. Holtz was a member of American Legion Olson-Halweg Post #125 of Merrill, Iowa. He served with the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Survivors are his wife Darlene; one son Mike and his wife, Naomi, of Merrill; two daughters, Julie DeRocher and husband David of Merrill; Connie Pick and husband Lou of Remsen, Iowa; eight brothers, Art and wife Deloris; Dale and wife Donna, all of Merrill; James and wife Delphine of Rochester, Minnesota; Marvin and wife Brenda of Moville; Harlan and wife Vicki of Melvin; Louis and Jon all of Sioux City; six sisters, Betty Ahlf of Hinton; Darlene Stanton of Litchfield, Minnesota; Carol and her husband Dan Gazinski of Omaha, Nebraska; Judy Diller of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; Janet and husband Don Doyle; Mary Jane Norton all of Sioux City; eight grandchildren. He preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bob.
