August Borchers Taken By Death

Well Known Farmer In Preston Township

August M. Borchers, 69, retired farmer, died at his home 208 Second avenue N. W. Wednesday, January 12. Death was due to heart trouble. He had been failing in health for a year.

Born in Will county, Illinois, June 26, 1874, he came to Plymouth county with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Borchers, in 1881. The family settled in Preston township where he farmed all his life. He was married to Freda Martfield in 1909 at St. Johns. Lutheran church in Le Mars with Rev. J. J. Vollmar officiating.

He leaves his wife and six children, Fred, Mrs. Herman Heeren, Mrs. Louis Heeren of Le Mars, Pvt. August Borchers, of El Paso, Texas, Edwin and Raymond at home.

He was preceded in death by one son, Walter. The funeral will be held at 1:30 Friday afternoon from the home with services in the Preston township Lutheran cchurch at 2:30 with Rev. C. Fenske officiating. Interment will be made in the Preston township cemetery.

Mr. Borchers was a life long member of the Lutheran church, a successful farmer and ae good neighbor. the land on which the cemetery is located was donated to the church by the father of August Borchers. Pvt. August Borchers arrived Thursday night to attend the funeral.

The Mauer Funeral Home of Le Mars is in charge of arrangements.

Borchers Obituary

In the August Borchers obituary the following should have been included:

Besides the immediate family, Mr. Borchers is survived by three brothers, Ben Borchers of Ireton, William and John Borchers of Akron: also by a sister, Mrs. Charles Mammen of Le Mars, and three grandchildren.

The acting pallbearers were John Kailsen, Gert Saathoff, Walter Nannen, Jesse Kallsen, Henry Molzen and Herman Frederichs.
