DILLEY, MAYNARD, MCCRACKEN, BRIDGEMAN

D.H.Dilley,a veteran of the Civil war died March 27, at his home in Akron,aged 83 years and 7 months from old age.

Denham Hill Dilley was born in Senecaville,Ohio, August 8,1843,where he spent his early boyhood. At the age of thirteen years he moved with his parents to Taylor county,Iowa, where he grew to manhood. During the Civil War he enlisted in the Union army in the Forty-sixth Iowa Infantry for 100 day service, in June 1865, and was mustered out September 23,1865, at Davenport, Iowa,and returned to Taylor county,where he resided a number of years.There he was united in marriage to Rose Maynard in 1866. To this union three children were born, who have all preceded him in death, together with their mother, who passed away in 1879. In 1887 he was united in marriage with Alice McCracken in Monona county, Iowa.To this union one child was born, Mabel E.Dilley Jenson, of Akron, Iowa.They moved to Chatsworth, Iowa,in 1916,and to Akron in 1924. He is survived by his wife and daughter and five grand-children, and a sister, Mrs.Mary Bridgeman, of Orson, Iowa.

Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon,Rev.G.J.Poppenheimer, of Onawa, Iowa,conducting the service, assisted by Rev.S.J.Wallac, local Methodist pastor. Members of Hoschler Post, American Legion,attended the funeral in a body, acted as pallbearers and conducted the military burial service at Riverside cemetery.
