Mrs. Carrie Peck called by Death
Rites held Sunday for Former Resident of this Vicinity

Brief mention was made in these columns last week of the death of a former Akron resident, Mrs. Carrie Peck, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sigmund Nilson, west of Hawarden on Tuesday evening, February 14, 1956, after an illness of about five months, aged 74 years, 5 months and 7 days.

Carrie Henke was born September 7, 1881, at LeMars, IA, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henke. She was united in marriage with William E. Peck, Feb. 1, 1898, at South Sioux City, NE. They lived in Akron vicinity for a number of years. Her husband preceded her in death. She lived at Hawarden since 1946. Mrs. Peck was a member of the West Side Church of Christ of Akron.

Surviving, in addition to Mrs. Nilson are another daughter, Mrs. Grace Munn, of Springfield, OR; two sons, Lloyd, of O’Neill, NE, and Elmer, of California; three sisters, Mrs. Jane Lapping and Mrs. Louise Larson both of Chicago, and Mrs. Leona Fox, of Sioux City, two brothers, Clem Henke of Arlington, Calif., and Peter Henke, of Chicago; 12 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 pm in the West Side Church of Christ, Rev. Dean Orris officiating. Mrs. Frances Mackey was vocalist and Mrs. Everett Harkness was accompanist. Acting as pallbearers were Wendall Nilson, Donald Franklin, Larry Nilson, Allen Moffatt, Quinton Nilson and Earl Newman, grandsons of the deceased. Interment was in Riverside cemetary. Those attending the services from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Don Franklin, and Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Peck, of O’Neill, Nebr.; Quinton Nilson, of Arkansas, Mrs. Eldon Nilson, of LeMars, IA; Mr. and Mrs. George Fox, of Sioux City; Mrs. John Druyresteyn, of Ocheyedan, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Stickney and son of Sioux City; Mr. and Mrs. Orville Jurgensen of near Remsen.
