Sylvia M. Pearce Dies In Omaha Valued Employee of Union Pacific

Miss Sylvia M. Pearce, 58, employee in the offices of the Union Pacific railroad company in Omaha for thirty-three years and a member of a well, known pioneer family of Plymouth county, died Thursday night at her home in Omaha, Neb., following an illness of three months.

Sylvia M. Pearce was born November 21, 1881, at Yorkville, Illinois, and came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pearce to Le Mars in 1885. They lived in Union township and Le Mars for many years. Miss Pearce grew up and received her education here and in 1906 entered the employ of the Union Pacific company.

She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Fred Pearce, and her sister, Mrs. J. E. Kelley of Le Mars and a brother, Ezra Pearce of San Obispo, Calif.

Services were held in Omaha Friday afternoon and the remains were brought to Le Mars where services were held Saturday afternoon in the Wiltgen chapel, Rev. W. A. Cowling of St. Paul's church in Sioux City, officiating. Interment was made in the city cemetery. The pall bearers were Charles Eyres, Ernest Eyres, P. J. Cronin, Jas. F. Goudio, Frank Hentges and C. C. Woodke. P. F. Frenzen and Hugh Vaughan of Omaha, representatives of the Union Pacific company, came to attend the last rites.

Miss Pearce was a valued employee of the company and was held in highest esteem by associates and acquaintances and was greatly beloved by a large number of nephews and nieces.
