Mrs. Christina Beeck, 84, Chatsworth, former longtime county resident, died Thursday at Hawarden Community hospital after an illness of several months. She had been hospitalized for only a day.

She was born Aug. 8, 1884, in Holstein, Germany, and came to the United States in 1909. After farming in Plymouth county, she and her husband retired to Le Mars in 1945 and she moved to Chatsworth in 1950. He died in 1946.

The former Christina Mangelsen, she was married to Gustav Beeck, Nov. 18, 1906, in Germany. Her parents were the late Nicholas and Martha Mangelsen.

Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Monday at St. Matthew Lutheran church, Chatsworth. Rev. Harris Hostager will officiate and burial will be in St. John Lutheran cemetery, Preston township, under direction of the Mauer funeral home in Le Mars. A prayer service will be held at 7 p. m. Sunday evening in the Mauer chapel. Mrs. Beeck was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran church, Chatsworth.

Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Henry (Martha) Ludwigs, Chatsworth; Mrs. Walter (Clara) Molzen, Le Mars; Mrs. Albert (Anna) Erks, Sioux City, and Mrs. Richard (Marie) Plueger, rural Le Mars; two sons, Henry and Alfred Beeck, both of Le Mars; 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jacob Mangelsen, Hawarden, and three sisters, Mrs. Clara Kluver, Le Mars; Mrs. Fred Meins and Mrs. Chris Beeck, both of Chatsworth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, grandson, a brother and three sisters.

Meta Mangelsen Beeck was born in Germany 87 years ago. She came, to America when she was 17 years old. She will have been married to Chris Beeck 60 years next March. Schooling in this country taught her the language and prepared her for citizenship which she obtained in 1945. They have six children, 36 grand children and eight great grand children. Working with paper, plastic, etc. she makes beautiful hobby craft items
