Death Claims August Stehr
Funeral services were held at Remsen Thursday afternoon for August Stehr, 82, who died Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Theo. Clement, of Merrill.
August Hans Frederich Stehr was born in 1853 in Berinsdorf, Germany, and in his native home was united in marriage to Caroline Horn in 1879. The couple, with one baby daughter, came to this country in 1881 and were residents of Iowa ever since. To their union seven children were born, two of them passing away in infancy. The children are Mrs. Peter Ott, Remsen; Mrs. Herman Wilhelmi, Chicago; Henry Stehr, Marshalltown, Iowa; Otto Stehr, Bryant, S.D.; Mrs. Theo. Clement, Merrill. There are two brothers and one sister: Mrs. Carl Dose, Remsen; Adolph Stehr, Madison, S.D., and Chris Stehr, St. Peter, Minn. There are fourteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Services were conducted in the Lutheran church by Rev. A.C. Noack. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Friday, March 29, 1935, page 1, column 6
