Peter Ott, Long Time Resident of Remsen Died First of Last Week
Peter Ott, who resided in Remsen for 56 years, died Oct. 13 in Sacred Heart hospital, after a year’s illness.
He was born March 18, 1867, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and came to Remsen at the age of 26 years. He was married June 2, 1898, to Mathilda Stehr, who survives him, and they lived on a farm east of Remsen until they retired and moved to Remsen in 1928. They celebrated their golden wedding last year at their home in Sunnyside addition where Mr. Ott spent his later years.
Their five sons are John and Henry of Remsen, Carl of Cleghorn, Albert of Paullina and William of Remsen. There are nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, October 25, 1949, page 4.
