Goldie Denniston, 95, of Le Mars passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Seney United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitations will be after 4:00 p.m. Friday April 29, 2011 followed by a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service Friday evening all at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitations will continue for 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Denniston, Tim Paplow, Mark Denniston, Curt Hawkins, Todd Popken, Todd Lancaster, Steve Klein, and Dale Denniston.

Goldie Anola Schultz was born February 26, 1916 on the family farm in Stanton Township, rural Merrill, Iowa to George B. and Bessie (Robbins) Schultz. Goldie attended country school near her home. She was united in marriage to Aaron Denniston on July 3, 1936 at her parents home. Goldie and Aaron farmed near Merrill from 1944 to 1956. She worked for Floyd Valley Broilers from 1957 to the mid 1960’s. She later worked as a housekeeper in the dorms at Westmar College until her retirement in 1981. Through the years, Goldie had been active with her church serving as a Sunday school teacher, treasurer, and shared her talents playing the piano for church activities. Through the years, Aaron and Goldie enjoyed belonging to and dancing with the Country Cousins square dance club.

In 1968, Goldie and Aaron built their home northwest of Seney. Goldie enjoyed planting and caring for her large flower and vegetable garden. Goldie continued to live on the farm after Aaron passed away on July 21, 2002 until 2006 when she moved to Prime Living in Le Mars.

Survivors include her 4 children: Larry Denniston and Angie Richards of Virginia Beach, VA, Gary and Judy Denniston of Indianola, IA, Judy and Dave Hawkins of Orange City, IA, and Don and Jeri Denniston of Kempner, TX; 10 grandchildren: Danny Denniston, Dale Denniston, Bonnie (Steve) Klein, Roma (Todd) Lancaster, Tammy (Todd) Popken, Curt Hawkins, Mark (Christie) Denniston, Laura (Tim) Paplow, Nicholas (Jessica) Denniston, and Barbra Denniston; 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Lester Schultz and his wife Ina of Laurens, IA and James Schultz and his wife Ardythe of Bella Vista, AK; a sister, Juanita Posey and her husband Everett of Sioux City; in-laws: Dexter and Virginia Denniston of Minneapolis, MN, Darrell Denniston, Lynn and Barbara Denniston, Durwood Yager all of Bremerton, WA and Norma Denniston of Brainerd, MN and ; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron on July 21, 2002; parents, George B. and Bessie (Robbins) Schultz; a great grandchild, Samantha Hawkins; 2 brothers, Roy Schultz and a brother in infancy; a daughter-in-law, Louise Denniston; 2 brothers-in-law, Donald and James Denniston; and 4 sisters-in-law, Thelma (Les) Bass, Hope Yager, Helen (Richard) Rotter, and Joyce Denniston.
