Shaune Hodgson, 47, of Le Mars passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at a Sioux City Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Kevin Richter officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitations will be after 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2011 at the Carlsen-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars with a 4:00 p.m. Parish Rosary followed by a 7:00 p.m. Scriptural Wake Service. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Ryan, Joseph Pitts, Jon Pitts, Christopher Hodgson, Philip Ryan, Caleb Stanley and Joshua Hodgson. Honorary casket bearers will be her nieces.

Shaune Eileen Hodgson was born July 9, 1963, in Le Mars, Iowa. She was the fourth of eight children born to John and Patricia (Butler) Hodgson. She was baptized in August of 1963 at St. James Catholic Church. Shaune attended and graduated from Gehlen Catholic High School with the Class of 1981. Following graduation, Shaune entered the workforce and through the years worked at Harker’s, Hugo’s, and for the past 9 years she worked at BoDeans Baking Company. Shaune was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Le Mars Eagle’s Club Auxiliary. She was a lifelong resident of Le Mars, with the exception of a couple of years she lived and worked in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Shaune enjoyed attending athletic events from Little League games to high school and college games. She was a loyal supporter of her nieces and nephews in all of their athletic endeavors. Shaune was an excellent softball player in her younger years and loved the game of racquetball as well. She was a loyal Hawkeye fan and even bigger Green Bay Packer fan. Most recently, Shaune spent much of her free time visiting her mother, and bringing treats and smiles to the residents and staff at Plymouth Manor. Shaune was known to bring smiles and laughter whether in person or through a humorous text message.

Shaune was a devoted daughter, a beloved sister, doting aunt, and true friend.

She is survived by her mother, Patricia Hodgson of Le Mars; her sisters: Jayne (Tom) Ryan of Le Mars, Karen (Roger) Pitts of Le Mars, Maureen Stanley (David Gustafson) of Rapid City, SD, and Katie Hodgson of Sioux City; her brothers: Anthony Hodgson of Rapid City, Patrick (Cathy) Hodgson of Fort Worth, Texas, and Michael Hodgson (Kristi Shetler) of Le Mars; several nieces and nephews; several aunts, uncles, and many cousins, as well as a wonderful circle of friends and coworkers of whom she was profoundly grateful.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Hodgson; paternal grandparents, John and Marian Hodgson; and her maternal grandparents, George and Winifred Butler.

Shaune’s giving spirit continues with her gift of organ and tissue donation. To honor Shaune’s memory, simply visit a nursing home and share a smile. ©
