Dale D. Klemme, 69, of Akron, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, at the Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View.

Dale Dean Klemme was born Aug. 11, 1936, the son of Emrey and Freda (Schmidt) Klemme. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Preston Township, rural Akron. He attended country school in Preston Township. He later attended high school in Akron and graduated from Akron High School. He was united in marriage to Arlene LaVonne Yates, the daughter of Clarence and Leona (Kisting) Yates, on Nov. 30, 1957, by the Rev. Henry Dirks at St. John Evangelical Lutheran, Preston Township. Together, they are the parents of four children, Daniel, Kevin, Cindy and Kym. The couple farmed in Preston Township for many years.

In the early 1990s, he retired from farming due to failing health. He went to work for seven years at Coil Craft in Hawarden as a bonder for computer chips. In the summer of 2000, he entered the care center for his Alzheimer's disease. He was a longtime member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston Township. He was also a member of the Full Gospel Men's Association. He was a strong;' ' supporter of Christian beliefs and activities. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing Christian songs. He also enjoyed riding horses and raising cattle, where he received an award for best feeder cattle. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Arlene of Akron; four children: Daniel of Akron, Kevin and his wife, Holly of Columbia, Tenn., Cindy Foley and her husband, Dave of Le Mars and Kym Rich and her husband, Chris of Le Mars; eight grandchildren: Daniel Klemme and his wife, Jenny, Dana Klemme, Caitlin Roberts, Grace Roberts, Dominick Foley, Alex Foley, Daytona Foley, and Samantha Rich; three great-grandchildren: Keegan, Logan, and Camaron; a brother, Kenneth Klemme and his wife, Betty Jo of Hawaii, his twin brother Daryl Klemme and his wife, Louise of Akron; two sisters: Betty Jean Athens and her husband, Roger of Le Mars, and Verla Mae Jacobs of California; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Marvin Klemme; a step-sister, Mildred Laudenschlager; a niece: Marlene Klemme; and a nephew, Dana Laudenslayer.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston Township, 22543 C-16, rural Akron, with the Rev. Jerry Crow officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today (Thursday) with the family present after 6 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel, Akron.

Pallbearers will be Chris Rich, Dave Foley, Dana Klemme, Stan Jacobs, Jeff Klemme, and Dennis Wilken. Honorary pallbearers will be Leonard Koch, Jack Fara, Daniel Klemme, Darwin Klemme and Allan Witt.
