MUNGON, CHAMBERLAIN, GALLAGHER

Donald P. Mungon, 67, Akron, died Sunday (Dec. 31, 1990) at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center, Sioux City, after a long illness.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 1991, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. Rev. Allen Bidne will officiate. "How Great Thou Art" and "In The Garden", will be sung by Gary Tucker, soloist. Congregation will sing "Love Divine" and "Lift High The Cross." Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery under direction of Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Arvel Jurgensen, Ray Andresen, Arden Boetger, Le- Roy Kuhlmann, Lyle Jacobs, and Randy Plueger.

Mr. Mungon was born Jan. 24, 1923 at Dunlap, Iowa to Leo and Aurora (Chamberlain) Mungon. He grew up in Arcadia, Iowa, and graduated in 1942 from the Arcadia High School. He worked for the Chicago Northwestern railroad for two years arid 38 years for the Illinois Central railroad. He retired in 1983. He married, Florence Gallagher April 14, 1946 at Council Bluffs, Iowa. He married Esther M. Gerdes May 31, 1975 in Akron. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron, and a union member of the International Brotherhoodof Railway Clerks.

Survivors include his wife, Esther of Akron; one son, Terry and his wife, Cathy Mungon of Irvine, Calif.; one daughter, Judy, and her husband, John Carlson of Omaha, Neb.; four grandsons; one great-grandson; one sister, Marilyn Reindl of O'Fallon, Ill.; one sister-in-law, Eileen Mungon of Boone, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, George.
