January 4, 1977LEO DRECKMAN STRICKEN WHILE AT BOWLING LANES
Leo C. Dreckman, 74, lifelong LeMars and area resident, was dead on arrival Monday evening (Jan. 3, 1977) at Floyd Valley Hospital after being stricken at Sweet 16 bowling lanes. The LeMars ambulance was summoned to the bowling lanes.
He was born Feb. 19, 1901, in LeMars to Frank and Mary Deters Dreckman and farmed here for many years, retiring to LeMars in 1970.
Mr. Dreckman and Anna Holzman were married Feb. 26, 1924, in LeMars. She survives him. Mrs. Dreckman was hospitalized at Floyd Valley hospital right after Christmas.
He was a member of St. Joseph parish, Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society, and the LeMars Eagles Club.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph church with his son, Rev. Phil Dreckman concelebrating the mass. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery here under direction of the Luedtke Funeral Home.
Parish rosary will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and the KC rosary will be at 8:30 p.m.
Survivors are his wife; three sons, Rev. Phil Dreckman, S.J. Marquette, Wis.; Larry and Don, of LeMars; four daughters, Mrs. Vern (Esther) Bunkers, Remsen; Mrs. Gene (Eilleen) Pottebaum, Alvord; Mrs. Jim (Mary Ann) Arens, LeMars; and Sister Peggy C.H.M., Marshalltown; 30 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
