Mildred Swanberg, 73, of Kingsley, died Tuesday (April 28, 1992) at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Congregational United Church of Christ at Kingsley with Rev. Art Hermanson officiating. Burial will be in the Kingsley Cemetery. Visitation will be at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) with a prayer service at 8 p.m. at the Dickison- Michaelson Funeral Home, Kingsley.
Mrs. Swanberg, the former Mildred Wilson, was born Aug. 18, 1918, at Dixon, Neb., the daughter of Charles and Edith (Carter) Wilson. She spent her childhood years in the Dixon area and graduated from Dixon High School. She attended Wayne State College and taught school at Cody, Neb., and Kingsley. She married John R Swanberg Jan. 24, 1947, at Wayne, Neb. The couple farmed north of Kingsley for many years. In 1984, they reared and moved to town. Mrs. Swanberg was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ and the Ladies Fellowship of the church. She also served as a deaconess. She was a member of PEO and a past member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband; a son and his wife, John (JC) and Gail of Le Mars; two daughters and their husbands, Annette and Charles Allen of El Segundo, Calif., and Janelle and Don Fish of Davenport; four grandchildren, J. Wesley, Samuel and Ethan Swanberg, and Claire Allen.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Laura Linn. A-memorial has been established in her name with Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars.
