Lloyd E. Fickbohm, 90, of Akron, Iowa, died Sunday, April 20, 1997, at his home following a brief illness.
Services were held April 23, 1997, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Akron, with the Rev. William Flemr officiating. Music was "My Hope Is" Built on Nothing Less" and "He Leadeth Me" sung by the congregation, accompanied by Carol Harris on the organ. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Akron, under direction of Schroeder Funeral Home, Akron. Iowa.
Casketbearers were Mark Sever, Daryl Fickbohm, Duane Fickbohm, Frank..Stockland, David Stockland arid Steven Stockland.
Mr. Fickbohm was born July 6, 1906 in rural Alcester, South Dakota, the son of George and Inez, (Shuck) Fickbohm. He was baptized and confirmed in Peace Lutheran Church in Alcester. He attended Garland Country School.
He married Esther Peterson August 8, 1927; in Alcester. The couple farmed, near Akron Tormany years, moving into Akron in 1969. She died November 12, 1981.
He married Vergene Stockland Julie 16, 1984, in Vermillion, South Dakota. The couple made their home in Akron.
He was a member of Union Creek Lutheran Church, where he served on many church boards. He was also a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He served on the Akron Hospital Board.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters and their husbands, Marian and Neal Sever of Pittsburgh, Pa., and LaVon and Lawrence Maynard of Akron; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; nine stepchildren; 22 step grand-children; four brothers, Henry and Merl and his wife, Irene, all of Akron, Roy of Austin, Minn., and Clarence and his wife, Frances, of Barstow, Calif.; six sisters, Edith Beck, Iva Siemers and Violet Siemers, all of Alcester, Evelyn and her husband, Clarence Larson of Beresford, S.D., Wilma Siemers of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Opal Reiser of Hawarden, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Ida Fickbohm of Alcester; and, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Esther; his parents; and a brother, Ralph.
