Fickbohm, Elmer J. 1899 - 1987

Elmer J. Fickbohm, 88, a longtime Akron resident, died Monday (Nov. 30, 1987) in the Akron City .Convalescent Care Center.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Akron. The Rev. Burl Ratsich will officiate. Organist is Carol Harris, and soloist is Gary Tucker. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Akron, under direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Calvin Fickbohm, Curtis Fickbohm, DeLane Fickbohm, Linden Fickbohm, Mark Fickbohm, Lawrence Reiss, and Harvard Van Ballegooyen.

Mr. Fickbohm was born Feb. 21,1899 to Edward L. and Matilda Lewison Fickbohm, near Beresford. He married Genevieve Christensen, March IS, 1934 in Nebraska. They moved to Akron from the farm three years later. Elmer worked for the State of Iowa department of transportation for more than 20 years as a maintainer operator.

Survivors include his wife, Genevieve of Akron; two sisters, Leona Erichsen and Mrs. Arnold (Eda) Peterson of Alcester, S.D.; three brothers, Sylvester of Santa Fe, Calif., Lester of Colorado Springs. Colo., and Vernon of Beresford, S.D.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Stella Ludwig and Dora Wevik, and two brothers, Leonard Fickbohm and Edward Fickbohm.
