Richard J. "Dick" Wolf, 66, of Le Mars, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at The Abbey of Le Mars.

Richard John Wolf was born Aug. 8, 1944, in Adrian, Minn., the son of Elmer and Clotilde (Meis) Wolf. He moved to a farm near Oyens with the family when he was a young boy and attended Gehlen Catholic Grade School and High School.

Dick served his country from August 1962 to August 1968 with the U.S. Navy as a aircraft mechanic and had served overseas in Viet Nam. Following his honorable discharge, he lived in the Los Angeles area for a number of years and had been employed with various businesses as a maintenance man and owned and operated a bar.

Dick was an avid reader and was well known to be a good mechanic. Woodworking was his hobby. He was very talented with his hands whether it be woodworking or doing mechanical work on machinery.

Dick was a lifelong bachelor.

Survivors include four sisters and a brother: Marlene Stoos of Le Mars, Mary Van Cura of Carson City, Nev., Elmer Wolf of Carson City, Nev., Margaret (Margie) Shumway of Detroit, Mich., and Judy Holmberg of Lawton; many nieces and nephews; and very dear friends, Ron and Nancy Mullally.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Inurnment services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars, with the Rev. Kevin Richter officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Wasmer American Legion Post #241 of Le Mars. Arrangements are with the Carlsen-Feuerstein Funeral Home of Le Mars.
