Geralyn Ann "Geri" Langel, 53, of Le Mars, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, surrounded by her family at her home.
Geralyn Ann Langel was born Jan. 3, 1957, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, the daughter of Leonard and Ardis (Schleis) Langel. She grew up in Le Mars and attended Gehlen Catholic Schools from kindergarten through high school graduation in 1975. Geri then attended and graduated from the Spencer School of Business in Spencer.
She had been employed with First National Bank and Primebank in Le Mars for several years. Most recently she had worked at the Plymouth County Courthouse in Le Mars where she worked in the Auditor's Office for a while and in the Recorder's Office for several years. Geri also worked as a hostess in the evenings at Archie's Waeside in Le Mars for more than 10 years.
Geri was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars. She enjoyed the Thursday Night Club, camping, gardening and riding on the Harley.
She loved to laugh, be "naughty" and get crazy.
Survivors include three children: Jacob (Rochelle) Chapman and their six children, Trinity, Hunter, Brooklyn, Breck, Preston and Denver, all of Le Mars, Emily Classon and her children, Damian and Dylan, and her fiancé Chris Axdahl and his son Tate, all of Linn Grove, and Adam Chapman and his special friend, Layne Jasper of Le Mars; her father Leonard "Butts" Langel of Le Mars; a dear and special friend, Wayne Kolbeck of Le Mars; three sisters: Becky (Lyle) Solko of Harrisburg, S.D., Beth (Bill) Schlichte of Le Mars, and Beverly (Jerry) Ewing of Wellington, Colo.; a brother Doug (Jackie) Langel of Le Mars; nieces and nephews: Erin (Kevin Kreis) Solko, Bryan (Kami) Solko, Kyle Solko, Kari (Tom) Jensen, Nicholas, Brittney, Rochelle and Merrissa Schlichte, Garrett and Gabe Ewing, Lindsey Langel, Jeremy (Andrea) Langel, Ryan, Austin and Katelin Langel; and many good friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother. Ardis Langel; a brother, Carey Langel; and her grandparents, Andrew and Kathryn Schleis and Leo and Pauline Langel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Kevin Richter presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitations will begin at 3 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars, where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m.
Funeral arrangements are with the Carlsen-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars.
