Dale Stoos, 51, of Remsen, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, after several years of fighting cancer.

Dale was born June 3, 1958, at Le Mars, the son of Jerome and Helen (Gollhofer) Stoos. Dale was raised in Remsen and graduated from Remsen Union High School in 1976.

After working in a packing plant for several years he opened Remsen Hardware in 1986. Hardware and helping people became his passion. He also purchased a hardware store in Marcus, in 2007 and then sold it to Tanya Judge in 2010. She had been store manager.

Dale will be missed by family, friends and coworkers.

Survivors include three brothers, Thomas L. Stoos and his wife Shirley of Remsen, Ronald J. Stoos and his wife Joyce E. of Lonsdale, Minn., and Gary J. Stoos of Remsen; one sister, Marlene Bragg and her husband Jim of Dugway Utah; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Helen in 1984 and his father Jerome in 2004.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen with the Rev. William McCarthy and the Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Remsen at 2 p.m. Saturday. Visitation will be anytime after 2 p.m. today (Thursday). There will be a parish rosary at 3 p.m., and vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., all at the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
