Mata Stinton, 94, of Le Mars, died Monday, March 1, 2010, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Mata Marie Rosenow was born Dec. 5, 1915, on a farm north of Sioux City, the daughter of Charles and Nettie (Hansen) Rosenow. Mata graduated from Liberty Consolidated High School, rural Hinton.

Mata was united in marriage to Jorville Stinton Oct. 21, 1937, by the Rev. S.A. Jones at the parsonage. Mata and Jorville had farmed in several townships in Plymouth County until their retirement in the mid 1970s. Jorville died in 1982.

Mata continued to live on the farm until moving to Le Mars in 1994. In 2005, Mata moved to Park Place Estates.

Mata had been a longtime member of Plymouth County Farm Bureau, former 4-H leader, Garden Club member, and a longtime member of the Adaville United Methodist Church. While living in Le Mars, she enjoyed attending card club. Every summer, Mata enjoyed attending the Plymouth County Fair.

Mata thoroughly enjoyed family gatherings with her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her kind personality and wonderful sense of humor. Her children and grandchildren will forever remember her talent for baking; especially her famous oatmeal cookies.

Survivors include her two children, Patricia Eilders and her husband Dale of Story City, and Dale Stinton and his wife Corinne of Evansville, Minn.; two granddaughters and two grandsons, six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Ernest Rosenow of McAllen, Texas; a sister-in-law, Wilma Rosenow of Claremont, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Charles and Nettie (Hansen) Rosenow; her husband, a sister and four brothers.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Carlsen Funeral Home of Le Mars with the the Rev. Ted Stowers of the Adaville United Methodist Church, rural Merrill, officiating. Visitation will be Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until service time. Interment will at Graceland Cemetery in Sioux City.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
