Fred Grosenheider Rites held Monday At Preston Church
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Monday at St. John Evangelical church, Preston township, for Robert Fred Grosenheider Sr., 77, long-time Plymouth county resident.
A prayer Service was held at 8:p.m. Sunday at the Mauer funeral home in Le Mars. Burial was in the church cemetery near Akron. Rev. Conrad Guefzlaff officiated.
Mr. Grosenheider died at Sacred Heart hospital March 10 after an illness of several years. He had been at the hospital a half day.
He was born July 11, 1888, in Litchfield, Illinois, the son of the late Henry Grosenheider and Minnie Sloman Grosenheider. At the age of 16 he came to Plymouth county and had lived here since. He was a retired farmer.
His marriage to Meta Engeline Pageler took place June 6, 1907, in Grant township.
Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Fred (Josephine) Popken and Mrs. Harry (Elsie) Oetken, both of Akron, Mrs. Carl (Vera) Mammen of Merrill and, Mrs. Richard (Anna) Jones of Akron; two sons, Fred of rural lreton and Robert Jr. of Ireton: 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Meta, his parents, a brother, sister and a son in infancy.
Mr. Grosenheider was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran church, Preston township.
