Teri Lewis, 40, of Le Mars, died early Saturday morning, Jan. 24, 2010, at her home in Le Mars surrounded by family after a seven year illness with cancer.

Teresa Michelle Carter was born March 21, 1969, at Onawa, the daughter of Lawrence "Larry" and Ada Carter. Teri grew up in northwest Iowa communities.

She was united in marriage to Jason Lewis June 16, 1990, at Le Mars.

Teri had worked at McDonald's and Brentwood Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars. For the last several years, Teri worked for Pat Heissel at the Sears store in Le Mars.

Teri and Jason along with their daughter, Trista, enjoyed family vacations. They enjoyed camping and fishing along the Red River at Manitoba, Canada. They also enjoyed several trips along the Gulf Coast region of the United States. She loved being near the ocean. She also enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends.

Teri was a big fan of the Sioux City Musketeers Hockey team. When feeling good, Teri and Jason could be found cheering on the Musketeers.

One of her greatest joys in life was her family. She was very proud to be "grandma" to Jayden and Jordyn. Teri also enjoyed her visits with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband of 19 years, Jason of Le Mars; a daughter and son-in-law, Trista and Justin Olson and their children Jayden and Jordyn of Le Mars; her parents, Larry and Ada Carter of Coon Rapids; two sisters, June Anderson and her husband Greg of Panora, and Carmen Carter of Eldora; her parents-in-law, Gerald and Paulette Lewis of Le Mars; three sisters-in-law, Shannon Brocka and her husband Dustin of Cedar Falls, Krista Weiland and her husband Jason of Le Mars, and Jessa Lewis of Le Mars; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the Rev. Leonard Waller of the Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Merrill. Visitations will be after 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitations will continue Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Pallbearers will be Auston Carter, Terry Bauman, Todd Schulz, Matthew Saltsgiver, Greg Getz, and Colt Johns. Honorary casket bearers will be Scott Lewis and Pat Heissel.
