Ninon Netley, 86, of Akron, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at the Bickford Cottages Assisted Living in Sioux City.

Ninon Haddock was born Feb. 4, 1923, on the family farm between Hornick and Holly Springs, the daughter of Jessie B. and Marie (Hawkins) Haddock. Ninon attended country school near Holly Springs and later had the opportunity to attend and graduate from high school in Moville.

Ninon was united in marriage to Arthur H. Netley June 21, 1941,in her parents home, near Anthon. Ninon and Art were blessed with four children: Judy, James, Melinda and Kevin.

In 1942, the couple moved to a farm in the Akron area. They farmed near Ruble until retirement in 1980. They continued to live on the farm and help until Art died Feb. 21, 2006. Ninon remained on the farm until moving to Bickford Cottages on July 1, 2008.

She enjoyed the staff and activities at Bickford. Some of her favorite activities at the Bickfors Cottages was attending church services, playing bingo and "weight lifting".

Ninon was a longtime member of the Adaville United Methodist Church where she had participated in many of the church organizations throughout the years. She was honored recently by the UMW for her many years of service and giving to missions throughout the world.

Ninon and Art enjoyed their many travel opportunities throughout their years.

Ninon enjoyed quilting, doing ceramics, reading countless books particularly Christian writings and gardening at her home. She enjoyed family trips to their cabin in the Northwoods of Minnesota.

Her greatest joy and pleasure in life was her children and later in life she loved and treasured her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be remembered by family and friends for her ever present smile and her optimistic outlook on life and people. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her four children and spouses: Judy Keith and her husband Les of Pryor, Okla., James Netley and his wife Beverly of Dakota Dunes, S.D., Melinda Heiderscheit and her husband Michael of Pryor, Okla., and Kevin Netley and his wife Pamela of Akron; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one on the way; two sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; and countless friends.

Ninon was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, and a sister.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Adaville United Methodist Church, rural Akron. Interment will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, rural Akron. Visitations will be after 3 p.m. tody (Monday) at the Carlsen Funeral Home, Schroeder Chapel, Akron, with the family present to greet friends after 5 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning at the church from 9 a.m. until service time.

Pallbearers will be Steve Castleberry, Daniel Combs, Dan Powers, Jesse McKee, James Olson, Andrew Netley, and Kevin Netley Jr.
