Bill D. Eilts, 53, of rural Ireton, died Tuesday, February 10, at Hawarden Hospital after a three-year illness.

Services were at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ireton on Friday, February 13, the Rev. Paul Sieveking officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Eilts was born August 7, 1933, in Logan Township near Hawarden. He attended rural school in District Two Logan Township and graduated from Ireton High School in 1950. He married Ardis Smith February 23, 1951, in Ireton. He farmed northeast of Ireton.

He was a charter member of the Iowa Cattleman’s Association, charter member and district director of Sioux County Cattle Feeders’ Association., member of Sioux County Pork Producers, Ireton Sportsman Club and Ireton Boosters Club. He served on The West Sioux Board of Education from 1972 until 1981. He was director of the Co-op Gas and Oil in Ireton and Sioux Center from 1977 until 1986, serving as president from 1981 until 1986.

He was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Linda Marienau, Glenda Ver Hoeven and Carol Salberg, all of Ireton, Patricia Thomason of Eagle Grove and Mary Beth Hendricks of Hawarden; a son, Paul of Ireton, his father, Lawrence Eilts of Ireton, a brother, Vernon of Ireton and 10 grandchildren.
