Dr. Delmer DeBoer, 76, of Franklin, Tenn., and a former Plymouth County resident, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009.

He was Professor Emeritus of Belmont University math department and former president of the Middle Tennessee Math Teachers Association.

He was a 1949 graduate of Le Mars High School.

Delmer was an active member of Antioch United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed playing golf and cards with his grandchildren and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ramona DeBoer; daughters, Sharon DeBoer and Sam Slifka, Lynn (Bryan) Pritchard and Sandy (Mike) Febles; sons, David (Tina) DeBoer and Doug (Holly) DeBoer; grandchildren, Max, Mike, Kate and Jack Slifka, Kelsey, Tyler and Matthew DeBoer, Kurt, Anthony and Sadie Pritchard, Emily and Eli DeBoer, Ryan, Brennen, Jared, Tony and Eric Febles; sister, Sylvia Krommendyk; and two brothers, Jerrold DeBoer and Elroy DeBoer of Le Mars.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Vera VerHoeven and a brother Marvin DeBoer.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday at Antioch United Methodist Church, 41 Tusculum Road, in Franklin, with the Rev. Jay Voorhees and the Rev. Horace Bass officiating. Visitation was Friday from 2 to 9 p.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road, in Nashville, and Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.

Grandsons served as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers with be Clara Harris Sunday School Class, AUMC Men's Club and the Touriffics.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Antioch United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund.
