Chester T. "Chet" Trobaugh, 83, of Sioux City died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at his residence following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Central Assembly of God Church at 2300 West 19th St., with the Rev. Boyd L. Hoferman officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Akron, Iowa. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mr. Trobaugh was born Jan. 20, 1921, in Hinton, Iowa, the son of Tony and Iva (Holder) Trobaugh. He attended school in Bronson, Iowa.

He married Opal Allen on Sept. 6, 1941, in Dakota City. She preceded him in death on Oct. 7, 1979. He married Ellen M. (Miller) McCloud on July 10, 1981, in Sioux City.

He was employed with Swift and Co. and later with Armour's in Le Mars, Iowa. He also drove a loader at the landfill at one time. More recently, he was a security guard for the Sioux City Skywalk system.

He was a member of Central Assembly of God Church. He had raised appaloosa horses. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen; his children, Madonna and her husband, Dan Eacret of Colorado Springs, Colo., Harley Trobaugh and his wife, Marilyn of Kansas City, Mo., Linda and her husband, Elmer Yates of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Kay Trobaugh of Crooks, S.D.; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Trobaugh of Greeley, Colo.; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Diane and Brock Cartwright of Mayfield, Ohio, and Mary and Wendel Herndon of Burleson, Texas; four stepsons, Robert McCloud and his wife, Carol of Littleton, Colo., Dennis McCloud of Colorado Springs, Reggie McCloud and his wife, Susan of Sioux City, and Mark McCloud and his wife, Adonna of The Woodlands, Texas; a sister, Mae Byers of Phoenix, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren; and six great-stepgrandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by a son, Chester "Sonny" Trobaugh Jr.; a stepson, Greg "Ace" McCloud; a brother, Walter Trobaugh; and two sisters, Opal Solomon and Hazel Groves.

Pallbearers will be David Pulscher, Todd Trobaugh, Brent Trobaugh, Ryan Lias, Stacy Moffatt and Shane Moffatt. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Pulscher, Scott Trobaugh, Justin Trobaugh, Jesse Gascoigne, Josh Gascoigne and the Rev. Elmer Yates.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland.
