DEATH CLAIMS ANOTHER PIONEER LAST SATURDAY

Thomas Rosenmerkel was born in Bayern, Germany, on December 31, 1850. He was baptized in early infancy and after due instruction confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He emigrated to America in 1883 and at once made his home in Iowa.

He was united in marriage to Miss Katherine Eichmaeler in the year 1875. This union was blessed with six children, four of them preceding their parents in death.

In 1902 the deceased and family moved to Minnesota and resided there for 12 years. They returned to Iowa in 1914 and moved to the Langley farm with their son, Thomas. In 1916, Mr. and Mrs. Rosenmerkel made their home with their son, Albert and family, until 1919 when they moved for themselves, one mile south of Neptune.

In 1921, they again decided to reside with their son and there both of them closed their eyes in death. Mrs. Rosenmerkel passed away in October 1928 and the deceased answered the call at 5:00 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 1931.

He leaves to mourn his loss one son, Albert Rosenmerkel of Kingsley; one daughter, Mrs. Green, of Minnesota; one son-in-law; one daughter-in-law; and nine grandchildren.

He attained the age of 80 years, two months and 20 days.

Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday afternoon and burial took place in the Lincoln Township Cemetery, Rev. R.J. Torgler officiated.
