LE MARS, Iowa -- Roseen M. Puhl, 80, of Le Mars, formerly of Struble, Iowa, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Struble, with the Revs. Terry Roder and John McGuirk officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with an Altar-Rosary Society rosary at 3 p.m. and a scriptural wake service at 7 p.m., at Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Mrs. Puhl was born Nov. 12, 1921, at The Sacred Heart Hospital in Le Mars, the daughter of Nick R. and Mary R. (Flaherty) Schlesser. She was raised on the family farm eight miles north of Le Mars. She attended school at Le Mars Central and graduated in 1942. She then worked at J.C. Penneys in Le Mars. She married Robert Puhl on Oct. 18, 1952, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars. The couple farmed for many years in the Struble area .

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Struble and the Altar Society. She helped in all church activities and loved quilting, raising sheep and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters and their husbands, Mary and Roger Smith of Sioux City, and Eileen and Curtis Hora of Irene, S.D.; two sons, Nick and his wife, Debra Puhl, and Patrick Puhl, all of Le Mars; nine grandchildren, Alex, Teresa and Daniel Smith, Andrew and Abby Hora, Emily, Erin, Kevin and David Puhl; two sisters, Mrs. George (Vivien) Meyer of Arnolds Park, Iowa, and Elizabeth Pochop of Le Mars.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Alvin Pochop.
