HAWARDEN, Iowa -- Merlin "Pooch" Pulscher, 67, of Alcester, S.D., formerly of Hawarden died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden, with the Rev. Richard Luttmann officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Pulscher was born Sept. 2, 1934, in Akron, Iowa, the son of Otto and Marie (Anderson) Pulscher. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served from 1953 to 1957. He was stationed in Korea. He later joined the U.S. Army, serving in Europe.
He was employed with the Milwaukee Road Railroad, and later with Bidwell Factory in Canton, S.D. He had made his home at Morningside Manor Nursing Home in Alcester for the past 20 years. He enjoyed living at the manor and eating out.
Survivors include a son, Michael Pulscher of Springfield, Mo.; a sister, Phyllis Pulscher of Akron; three brothers, Harold and his wife, Barbara of Sioux City, Herbert of Sioux City, and Francis and his wife, Marilyn of Sheldon, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Clarence, Alfred, Clifford and Gilbert; and a sister, Kathryn Watkins.
