WAS MEMBER OF PIONEER FAMILY

Mrs. Frank Smith, 56, passed away last week Wednesday night at the home of her brother, Joe McDermott, in Stanton Township. Mrs. Smith was a resident of Lawton, and was visiting in the home of her brother when she was stricken by death due to cerebral hemorrhage.

Mrs. Smith was born at Elkader, Iowa, March 31, 1881, and came with her parents to LeMars when she was two years old, and matured to womanhood in this vicinity. She was united in marriage with Frank Smith on March 5, 1923, at Sioux City.

She is survived by her husband; five sisters and two brothers, Mrs. J.L. Bride of Yankton, S.D., Mrs. Geo. Bourvelais of Sioux City, Mrs. M. J. Lucid of Merrill, Mrs. Elizabeth O’Leary of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. J.W. Connelly of Decatur, Neb., Joseph and Henry McDermott both of Merrill.

Her twin sister, Catherine, preceded her in death eight months ago. Her parents and two other sisters, Mrs. Thos. Julian and Stella died some years ago.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 9 o’clock in St. Joseph church in Lincoln Township, Rev. Bernard Kocher officiating, and interment was made in St. James Cemetery at LeMars.
