OCCUPATION: He attended Northwestern Junior College in Orange City for a year. He then was employed by Schumacher Construction in Orange City. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from October 1942 to October 1945. The couple then moved to LeMars where he was a truck driver for Harms Trucking. He later worked as a painter for Ray Baack; painter and decorator for Becker Brothers and St. Vincent’s Hospital (now Marian Health Center) in Sioux City, retiring after 17 years of service. He enjoyed painting in his retirement.
SURVIVORS: …include his wife; two sons and their wives, Dennis and Patricia of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Dean and Ellen of Macomb, Ill.; two brothers and their wives, Ivan and Jeanette of Chicago and Wayne and Alex of Fort Collins, Colo.; five sisters, Leone Metros of Santa Monica, Calif., Mary Van Meeteren of Sheldon, Iola Moss and her husband, Henry of Valley Springs, S.D., Gail Craven and her husband, Tom of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Marna Zoerink of Bellflower, Calif.; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
MEMBER OF: Calvin Christian Reformed Church and Wasmer Post 241 American Legion
PRECEDED in DEATH by: …his parents; a sister, Matilda Pierce and a son, David, in infancy.
