Ronald D. Beeck, 63, of Le Mars, died Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 10, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

Ronald Dean Beeck was born Dec. 4, 1940, at Akron, the son of Christian and Marie (Nannen) Beeck. Ron was a life long Plymouth County resident. He served from 1960 to 1966 in the Iowa National Guard, Company A 2nd Battalion, 133rd Infantry, located in Le Mars.

Ron married Donna Jo Grubb in Kingsley on Sept. 28, 1963. They were blessed with two children.

In 1962, Ron went to work at Schmidt Sinclair in Le Mars as a mechanic. In 1967, he began his career with the telephone company in Le Mars as an installer and repairman, retiring from Frontier Communications after 30 years of service. After retiring, Ron worked for the city park department for two summers.

Ron was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Le Mars. During the late 1970s and early '80s, Ron helped 4-H leaders as a woodworking assistant at the Plymouth County Fair. Throughout his life he enjoyed spending his spare time fishing and working on woodworking projects.

Ron was especially fond of taking drives around the countryside and spending time with his children, grandchildren and sister. He was best known as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Donna Beeck of Le Mars; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Angie Beeck of Hinton and daughter, Elizabeth Beeck of Ankeny, along with his three grandchildren: Samantha, Nick and Ally Beeck of Hinton. Ron is also survived by his sister, Shirley Peterson of Le Mars and a host of relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Marie Beeck.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church of Le Mars with the Rev. Gary Landsness officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery of Le Mars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at Carlsen Funeral Home of Le Mars with the family present to greet friends after 6 p.m. followed by a prayer service Thursday evening at 7 p.m.
