OCCUPATION: She lived in southern California for several years during World War II, then moved to the Remsen area. The couple made their home in Remsen. She was employed with Sacred Heart hospital which later became Floyd Valley Hospital, in LeMars for 30 years. She was also employed with the Golden Pheasant in Remsen. Her husband died April 26, 1973.
SURVIVORS: …include two sons and their wives, Steven and Debbie of Sheldon, Iowa, and Paul and Stacy of Des Moines; three stepdaughters Dorothy Homan, of Slayton, Minn., Jean and her husband, Richard Cherkas of Sioux City, and Lois Peters of LeMars; a stepson, Floyd Arens of Los Angeles; six grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren, great step grandchildren and great great step grandchildren; and four sisters-in-law, Marie and Marian Kellen, both of Remsen, Helen Kellen of Alton and LaVonne Kellen of Dallas, Texas.

PRECEDED in DEATH by: …a step daughter, Betty Arens; several step grandchildren and great step grandchildren; six brothers, Verne, Ray, Vic, Bob, William in infancy, and Stan; and five sisters, Florence Henrich, Lillian Gengler, Frances Wess, Evelyn Harmon and Esther Bohlke.
