Clarinda "Rene" Wurth

MARCUS, Iowa -- Clarinda Loretta Wurth, 89, of Marcus died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Cherokee.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Name Catholic Church with the Rev. Richard Remmes officiating. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery. Visiting will begin at 2 p.m. today, with a rosary at 3 p.m., and a Scripture wake service at 7 :30 p.m., at the church. Earnest and Roethler Funeral Chapel in Marcus is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wurth was born July 24, 1911, in Remsen, Iowa,the daughter of Aloysius and Magdalen (Scharff) Wurth (wrong - actually Krier). She grew up in the Remsen area and attended St. Mary's Catholic School. She married Lawrence "Pete" Wurth on Sept. 9, 1941, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen. They farmed for 42 years south of Marcus in 1982. Mr. Wurth died Oct. 17, 1998. She became a resident of Heartland Care Center in Marcus this past year. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and St. Ann's Guild.

Survivors include five sons and their wives, Francis and Pat, Milton and Barbara, Joe and Peg, and Larry and Jean, all of Marcus, and Marvin and Peg of Platteville, Wis.; a daughter and her husband, Mary and Larry Leonard of Prairie Village, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Raymond and Vi Krier of Remsen, Iowa; and a sister, Phyllis Streff of Alton, Iowa.

She also was preceded in death by a sister, Miranda Wurth.
