OCCUPATION: He was self employed in the trucking business. The couple made their home in Remsen. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in the European Theater. Following his discharge, he returned to Remsen and resumed trucking. In 1948, they moved to rural Remsen, where they farmed until retiring and moving into Remsen in 1973. His wife died Feb. 14, 1998. He entered Happy Siesta Health Care in October 1999.
MEMBER OF: St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Remsen, IA
SURVIVORS: …include two daughters, Sister Shirley Waldschmitt O.S.F., of Las Cruces, N.M., and Jane and her husband, Philip Ortmann of Sioux City; four sons and their wives, Gerald and Jean and David and Donna, all of Remsen, Thomas and Margaret of Ankeny, Iowa, and James and Elaine of Johnston, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a brother, John Jr., of LeMars.
PRECEDED in DEATH by: …by three sisters, Freking Willenborg, Ottilia Diekmann and Louise Steele; and three brothers, Michael as a child, Louis and Paul.
PLACE OF BURIAL: St. Marys Cemetery, Remsen, IA
