AKRON, Iowa - Mable L. McCorkell, 92, of Akron died Wednesday, March 19, 1997, at the Akron Care Center following a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Akron, with the Rev. Fred Penner officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Mrs. McCorkell was born March 2, 1905, in Westfield, Iowa, the daughter of George and Nancy (Allen) Pike. She married Clair McCorkell on Dec. 20, 1924, in Sioux City. He died Nov. 6, 1983. She was a lifelong resident of Akron.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, and the embroidery club for many years.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Phyllis and Darrell Wilson and Gladys and Clifford Clarey all of Akron; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Iva Powell and Ruby Frahm both of Akron; and a daughter-in-law, Joan McCorkell-Six.

She was preceded in death by a son, Edward; a brother, Bud Pike; a sister, Helen Joseph; four grandsons, Steven Feauto, Leonard, Ronald and Donald McCorkell; and two half brothers, William and Clifford Pike.

Pallbearers will be Joseph and Chad Clarey, Gary Feauto, Jeff Johnson, Gerd Ludwigs, and Barney Swift.
