FRED MARTFELD
Fred August Martfeld, 78, 301 First Ave. NW, died unexpectedly Tuesday (Aug. 15, 1972) at Floyd Valley Hospital. He had been sick one day.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at St. John American Lutheran Church with Rev. Arnold Imbrock and Rev. William Striepe officiating.
Burial will be in LeMars Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Luken-Johnson Funeral Home.
Mr. Martfeld was born Aug. 5, 1894, in Germany, a son of the late Fredrick and Katherine (Siebels) Martfeld. He married Anna Freiberg Jan. 26, 1922, in LeMars. Mr. Martfeld was a retired farmer.
He came to the United States at the age of 2 and to LeMars with his mother and step-father, Henry Rolapp. He was confirmed April 12, 1908, at St. John’s Lutheran Church by Rev. J. J. Vollmar.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Delores and a grandson, Larry Winchester.
Survivors are his wife Anna of LeMars; three daughters, Mrs. Don (Irene) Winchester, Mrs. Harry (Lucille) Baerg and Judy Martfeld, all of LeMars; two sons, Walter and Eddie, both of LeMars; and six grandchildren.
