MARTIN EBERLE, A LONGTIME MERRILL BARBER, DEAD AT 80
Martin M. Eberle, 80, longtime Merrill barber, died Wednesday morning (May 3, 1972) at Floyd Valley Hospital after an illness of three months. He was hospitalized Sunday.
Funeral services will be Saturday 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of The Assumption Catholic Church at Merrill with Rev. James Fangman officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of the Luedtke funeral home in LeMars.
Mr. Eberle moved to Merrill in 1909 and was a barber there for 50 years until his retirement in 1961.
He was born Dec. 15, 1891, at Parkston, S.D., a son of the late Joachim and Julia Eberle. He married Leona Elskamp March 30, 1932, at Merrill.
Mr. Eberle was a member of the American Legion, Olson-Halweg Post 125 at Merrill and a veteran of World War I.
He was preceded in death by two sisters in infancy and two brothers, Frank and Maynard.
Survivors are his wife Leona; a daughter, Mrs. Robert W. (Marion) Miller of Merrill; four brothers, Peter of Huntington Beach, Calif., Jake of LaCrosse, Wis., Joseph of Detroit, Mich., and Robert of Las Vegas, Nev.; three sisters, Rose Eberle of Minneapolis, Mrs. Walter (Kathryn) Burk of Scotland, S.D., and Mrs. Mellwood (Louise) Pederson of Stockton, Calif.; two grandsons and two granddaughters.
