Arthur C. Pick Rites At LeMars Monday

Funeral services for Arthur C. Pick, 56, member of a well known Remsen family and who died at the Sacred Heart hospital last Thursday after a six-week illness, were held Monday morning in St. James Catholic church, LeMars, the Rev. L. J. LaVelle, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Calvary cemetery.

Mr. Pick was born on a farm near Remsen July 15, 1901, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Pick, early settlers here. He attended the rural schools and assisted at home until his marriage, January 26, 1926, to Frances Determan. The couple settled on a Stanton township farm south of LeMars and lived there since.

Mr. Pick was well known over the east half of the county, a devoted husband and father and brother and a loyal friend. He was possessed of admirable qualities which made him a popular resident of his community.

Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Francis (Rosemary) Miller of LeMars; five sons, Leo and Cletus, both of LeMars, Donald, Jake and Robert, all at home; two sisters Mrs. Clara Johnson and Mrs. Veronica Smith, both of Remsen, three brothers, Anton, Gregory and Alphonse, all of Remsen; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ollie and two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Wiederholt and Mrs. Gene (Myra) Poeckes.

He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. James church.

Pallbearers were: Frank C. Rolfes, Malcom Robinson, Bub Bolser, Ben Ruhland, Gus Kipp and Webb Kurth.
