Funeral services for Anton Pick, 64, prominent retired farmer and a lifelong resident of the Remsen community who died in his home early Monday, were held in St. Mary’s Catholic church Wednesday morning.

The requiem High Mass was offered by the pastor, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Francis Schultes, and burial was made in St. Mary’s cemetery.

The couple farmed near Remsen many years and retired to town five years ago.

Mr. Pick was of a quiet, unassuming nature, a lifelong member of the Catholic church and a devoted family man. He was well liked among his many acquaintances and enjoyed his daily visits among friends until the very day before his unexpected passing.

Wake was held with rosary recital at Fisch funeral home Tuesday evening and the services at 10 o’clock Wednesday morning.

Pallbearers were Leo Pick, Glenn Pick, Thomas Pick, Arthur Poeckes, Walter Johnson and John Pick.

Surviving are the sorrowing widow, Regina; four sons, Alfred, James and Darold of Remsen and Milo of Granville, and three daughters, Mrs. L. A. George of Remsen, Mrs. Harold Wanderschied of LeMars and Mrs. Cyril Haupert of Granville.

Surviving sisters and brothers are Mrs. Veronica Smith and Mrs. Clara Johnson, Greg and Alf, all of Remsen. There are 27 grandchildren.

Mr. Pick was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters St. Mary’s court of Remsen, members of which attended wake and recital of the rosary at the funeral home, and the mass Wednesday morning.
