Anna Maxwell Hart, 82, Plymouth County native and longtime Le Mars resident, died Sunday (Sept. 27, 1987) at Plymouth Manor Care Center.

A memorial service will be held at the Le Mars Presbyterian United Church of Christ at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

She was born April 21, 1905, in Plymouth County to Hugh and Isabelle Maxwell. Her father was a popular and well known Plymouth County sheriff for 18 years, from 1912 to 1930.

She married Ivan A. Hart of Sioux City and resided there until 1958. They returned to Le Mars in 1978 and have since lived here.

Both attended Westmar (then Western Union) College and taught in country schools immediately afterward. Anna was an active leader in the P.T.A. and served as worthy matron of her Order of Eastern Star Lodge in Sioux City.

She is survived by her husband, her sister, Ferne Maxwell of Le Mars, and two sons, Richard and Dennis, both of California.
