Ivan A. Hart, 84, of Le Mars, a former resident of Sioux City and Des Moines, died Friday, (Jan. 5, 1990) at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars, where he had lived since 1981.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Le Mars Presbyterian United Church of Christ. Interment will be in Le Mars Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Hart was born May 23, 1905, near Oakland, Iowa, and graduated from Oakland High School. He then graduated from Western Union (now Westmar) College in Le Mars. He was married in 1927 to Anna Maxwell, the daughter of Plymouth County Sheriff and Mrs. Hugh Maxwell. He taught briefly in country schools before moving to Sioux City where he began a lifelong career with International Harvester Company. He retired in Des Moines.

The couple returned to Sioux City in 1978, and to Le Mars in 1981 and lived at Plymouth Manor.

While living in Sioux City, he served as an Elder at First Presbyterian Church; as worship master of the Landmark Mason Lodge and as worthy parton of the Isis Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors are two sons, Richard and Dennis and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years; a sister, Bonnie, and a brother Guy.
