SAD NEW YEAR’S DAY FOR GRANDMA

The infant daughter born to Lt. and Mrs. Robert Atwood at the Sacred Heart hospital on Thursday, Dec. 31, failed to survive her birth. Graveside services were held at the City cemetery on Thursday afternoon. Surviving besides the mother, the former Betty Barnes and the father, Lt. Robert Atwood, stationed in Japan are the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Atwood and the great grandmother, Mrs. Gertrude Kirsch, of LeMars.

On New Year’s Day Mrs. Kirsch also received word of the death of a great grandson, a 6-month old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hoffman of Porter, Minn. Mrs. Hoffman was the former Rosemary Haage.
