Chester Long, 77, of Struble, died unexpectedly Wednesday ( Feb. 20, 1985) at his residence. His body was discovered Saturday.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home, Le Mars. Rev. Robert Grupp officiated. Burial was in Le Mars Memorial Cemetery. Visitation was from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Long was born March 21, 1907, in Plymouth County and was a lifetime resident of Plymouth County. He was a veteran of World War II and lived in Struble since 1912. He worked for the Great Northern Railroad until his retirement.
He was a member of the Wasmer Post 241, American Legion, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Survivors are two brothers, George of Yankton and Francis of Le Mars; four sisters, Hazel Hani of Yankton, Carol Diller of Marshalltown, Rose Bolser of Le Mars and Myrna Anderson of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Royal, and a sister, Daisy.
