Jodie Shackelford, 47, of Le Mars, passed away peacefully, Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008 at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital, Omaha, Neb., from injuries sustained in a motor cycle accident in July 2003.

Jodie Sue Iverson was born July 11, 1961, at Redfield, S.D., the daughter of Daryl and Delores (White) Iverson. As a young girl, the family moved to Sioux City where Jodie attended school. She later attended Westmar College in Le Mars where she graduated in 1997 with a bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice and human services. While attending Westmar, Jodie was inducted into the National Honor Society in Psychology and received an Investigative Studies award. Most recently, Jodie was working as the Activities Director for Plymouth Life in Le Mars up until her accident on July 10, 2003 near Council Bluffs. Jodie loved working with the disabled at Plymouth Life. Since the accident, Jodie had been rehabilitating at The Ambassador in Omaha.

Jodie enjoyed crocheting afghans for family and friends and even entered many of her creations at the Plymouth County Fair. Jodie enjoyed fishing for cat fish. She enjoyed her family and caring for her pets.

Survivors include her son, Brett Iverson of Le Mars; her mother, Delores Koehler of Hawarden; a sister, Doretta Button and her husband Dave; three nephews, Samuel Iverson, Joshua Iverson, and Ian Button; and many friends who have been a special part of her life.

Jodie was preceded in death by her father, Daryl Iverson in 1982.

Jodie's family would like to thank all who have prayed for her throughout the years following her accident.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the Rev. Dale Fopma of the Calvin Christian Reformed Church officiating. Interment will be at the Riverside Cemetery, Akron. Visitations will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday morning.

Pallbearers will be Brett Iverson, Dave Button, Samuel Iverson, Chris Meyer, and Phil Meyer.
