Viola M. Harms, 97, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center.

There will be a luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Calvary Lutheran Church. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. David A. Schoop officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery at Le Mars, Iowa. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Viola was born Oct. 9, 1909, in Sioux City, the daughter of Herman and Marie (Toppe) Binneboese. Her parents took her to grade school in a horse-drawn wagon, attending both St. Paul Lutheran School and also Hawthorne Elementary. Viola was a Central High School graduate.

She married Albert J. Harms on Jan. 18, 1929, in Le Mars, Iowa. Albert preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 2004, in Sioux City.

Viola was a charter member of Calvary Lutheran Church. She and Albert did custodial work at the church for many years. She was active in numerous women's circles and also taught Sunday school for a number of years. She especially cherished time spent with her family.

Survivors include three grandchildren, Cathy Dailey of Sioux City, Kim Kull and her husband, Bill of Sioux City, and John Prather and his wife, Sylvia of Papillion, Neb.; a son-in-law, Don Prather of Sioux City; eight great-grandchildren; a granddaughter at heart, Mona Hanson and her husband, Chuck of Sioux City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jo-Ann M. Prather; a son, Curtis Wayne Harms as an infant; six brothers, Johnny, as a child, Herman, Carl, Walter "Chink," Lawrence and Earl.

Pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren, Taylor Dailey, Ashley Dailey, Catherine Prather, Jenna Prather, Johnathon Prather, Curtis Kull, Mick Prather and Sarah Prather.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Siouxland.

Our grandma touched many lives and will be dearly missed.
