PLACE of BIRTH: Merrill, Iowa
PARENTS: son of Eugene M. and Lillian (Banks) Kennedy
SPOUSE & DATE of MARRIAGE: Elaine Eckerman, July 28, 1956
PLACE OF MARRIAGE: at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Spirit Lake, Iowa
OCCUPATION: The couple farmed in Stanton township south of LeMars for many years. In November 1962, Mr. Kennedy began working for the United States Postal Service as the postmaster of LeMars. In January 1963, the couple moved to LeMars, where he continued as postmaster until 1982.
SURVIVORS: include his wife; two daughters and their husbands, Karla and Bill Anthony of LeMars, and Sheila and Brad Zellar of Minneapolis, Minn.; two sons and their wives, Kevin and Julie of Aurora, Colo, and John and Peggy of Dallas, Texas; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Elaine Tolan of Ralston, Neb., Helen Halaszyn and Mary Meyers and her husband, Ralph, all of Sioux City; and two brothers and their wives, Cecil and Loretta Kennedy of LeMars, and Gene and Dorothy Kennedy of Melrose, Iowa.
PRECEDED in DEATH by: a granddaughter, Victoria Kennedy
