LULA MARIE CLAASEN
Lula Marie “Lu” Claassen, 84, of Sioux City died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dr. John Meyer officiating. Burial will be will be in Riverside Cemetery in Akron, Iowa. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and with the family present 6-8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
“Lu” Claassen was born Sept. 15, 1915, in Akron, the daughter of Herman and Johannah (Luschen) Claassen. She attended Wayne (Neb.) State College.
She had been in Sioux City since 1942, and she worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 32 ˝ years, retiring as a supervisor in 1970.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and was active in the church choir. She was a life member of Northwestern Bell Pioneers, and she was a past member and charter member of ABWA.
Survivors include two nephews: John P. Kilstrom of Crestwood, Mo., and Robert G. Kilstrom of Davenport, Iowa; a niece, Elaine Erickson of Champaign, Ill.; and several grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and six sisters.
